The meeting will also include several brief reports, recognition of the Natural Field Studies graduates and volunteers, and the election of directors to the Audubon Naturalist Society Board. The following candidates have been nominated for election to the Board:
Jenni Ford is a CPA and Director of Finance and Accounting for the Society of American Military Engineers. She has spent many years in public accounting, with a concentration in not-for-profit organizations. Her experience includes 10 years as an auditor for local firms and 15 years as a self-employed consultant. She is a long-time member of ANS and has participated in many ANS natural history study programs. She also serves as a member of the ANS Finance Committee, and has been instrumental in helping to make improvements in our financial processes. She would continue this valuable service as a member of the board.
Anne MacGlashan has been involved in environmental education and fundraising for many years. Currently, she is the Director of Development for the Isaak Walton League of America, Inc., which is located in Gaithersburg, Maryland. As the leader of the League’s strategic planning team, Anne has helped develop the organization’s national strategic plan. Anne’s first job out of college was with ANS in environmental education. She actually lived at Woodend in the area that is now the bookshop. For the past three years, she has been a member of the ANS Development Committee. In this role, she conducted an assessment of the ANS development program this past spring and helped create a long-range development plan.
Lois Schiffer is General Council at the National Capital Planning Commission. She has extensive experience in environmental law through her work in federal jobs, in private practice, and for non-profit organizations. From 2002 to 2005, she was a partner at Baach, Robinson and Lewis in Washington DC. From 1993 to 2001, she was Assistant Attorney General for the Environment and Natural Resources Division at the Department of Justice. For the past 20 years, Lois has been an adjunct professor of environmental law at Georgetown University Law Center. She has authored many articles on environmental law topics and is the recipient of several awards for distinguished and outstanding service. She serves on the boards of the Keystone Center, DC Appleseed, Coalition on the Environment and Jewish Life, and the International Senior Lawyers Project. She has served on the boards of a number of non-profit organizations, including American Rivers and the District of Columbia Bar, where she is a delegate to the American Bar Association House of Delegates. She is a graduate of Radcliffe College and Harvard Law School.
